🌟 What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery that removes stubborn fat from certain body areas using a small tube called a cannula connected to a suction machine. It’s done to reshape and contour your body — not meant for weight loss.

✅ Who Can Go for Liposuction?

You may be a good candidate if:

  • You eat healthy and exercise regularly but still have fat in specific areas (like tummy, thighs, arms).

  • Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is close to ideal (between 20–25 is ideal). You might still be eligible up to BMI 35, depending on your health and doctor’s advice.

👉 Use this formula:BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m)²

  • If BMI is near ideal: small fat areas can be shaped (called body contouring).

  • If BMI is higher (up to 35): more fat can be removed (lipo-reduction) to reduce weight and shape your body.

  • If BMI is over 35: bariatric surgery is better.

Note: Liposuction is NOT a replacement for diet and exercise — it’s just a boost.

🏥 How is the Procedure Done?

  • Done in a hospital with either general, spinal, or local anaesthesia.

  • Tiny cuts are made in natural skin folds.

  • A special fluid is injected to reduce bleeding.

  • Then fat is removed using a suction cannula.

  • Small cuts are stitched or left open; a tight compression garment is worn for 4–6 weeks.

🤕 Recovery & Aftercare

  • Mild pain and swelling for a few days — painkillers help.

  • Resume normal work in 3–5 days with the garment.

  • Drink lots of water and eat a high-protein, healthy diet.

  • Exercise after 2–4 weeks, depending on comfort.

  • Swelling and bruises usually settle in 10–14 days.

📉 When Will I See Results?

  • Final results show in 3 months after swelling reduces.

  • You’ll notice inch loss more than weight loss.

  • Don’t check your weight immediately — swelling might show a gain initially.

  • Regular exercise gives even better results!

⚠️ Possible Side Effects

Most are mild and temporary:

  • Swelling, bruises, burning pain.

  • Fluid or blood collection under the skin (seroma, hematoma).

  • Loose skin if skin quality is poor.

  • Rarely, skin damage, scars, or uneven shape.

💡 Massage and proper aftercare usually solve these issues. Rare complications may need minor corrections.

🩺 Final Word
